The links in the panel provide access to all the administrative functions for managing your WordPress website.\u00a0Mousing over a top-level dashboard area provides you with further choices. Whichever area you select appears as open \u2013 revealing all choices within that menu area\u00a0\u2013\u00a0while you are working in that portion of the site administration.<\/p>\n<p>The image at left shows the \u201cPages\u201d area active, but the mouse is hovering over the Dashboard \u201cHome\u201d area, revealing among other things that there is one update available for the site. There is also a circled \u201c1\u201d next to the \u201cPlugins\u201d menu choice, indicating that there is one plugin that needs updating.<\/p>\n<p>Because WordPress is always sensitive to user privileges, the Dashboard panel\u00a0displays\u00a0for you only the navigation options available to which you are entitled. Fig. 1, shows options available to a person with administrative privileges.
